Creating Architecture Files
The deployment process of DirX Identity is based on a set of configuration files that define the system’s architecture and behavior. These files are arguments to the Deployment Tool.
The architecture API is versioned, which means that structural changes in the architecture files are reflected in the version number. The Deployment Tool does not automatically convert architecture files from one version to another. The Deployment Tool will only accept architecture files of the version marked:
-
v2 - not yet released
-
v1 - for Deployment Tool v1 API (since DXI 9.0.0)
Supported formats
-
.yaml - YAML format
-
.json - JSON format
Legacy formats:
-
configuration.ini- Legacy INI format produced by the Configuration Wizard -
Java-based Server
.tplfiles - Legacy format produced by the Configuration Wizard
Sample Architecture Files
Compare the new sample architecture files below with legacy architecture files from previous release at the end to understand the mapping of the new architecture files to the legacy architecture files. They can be used as templates for creating your own architecture files.
It is recommended to convert your legacy architecture files using Deployment Tool’s convert command.
Go through the YAML sample architecture files' comments to understand the purpose of new fields and how to use them (they apply for all new formats since DXI 9.0.0).
The new formats allow to define multiple identity domains, multiple Java servers, and multiple web containers in a single architecture file. The new formats also allow to define the system-wide SSL configuration and keystore/truststore management. The new formats are interchangeable, meaning you can use any of them to define the same architecture. The Deployment Tool will accept any of the formats and convert them to the internal format used by the tool.
The following files are based on sample deployment of DirX Identity 9.0.3 on a single Windows system with DirX Directory V10.0, without SSL, with host "<HOST>, "My-Company" scenario domain and 2 Java servers (IdsJ). Some values are replaced with placeholders to not expose sensitive information.
| Storing passwords/PINs in the new architecture files is not possible. The new architecture files use references to credentials stored in the credentials provider (e.g. KeePass database). The credentials must be ported to the credentials provider manually. |
