Build 49 compared to build 47

  • Features

    • A new additional field (Max. DAP share count) allows to limit how many identically authenticated LDAP users
      are allowed to share the same DAP backend connection. Only effective, if "Backeend sharing" is checked off

      • otherwise each LDAP user has his/her own connection anyway.

    • A new additional field (Max. memory size) allows to limit the memory that is occupied for the LDAP result cache.

    • The index "Index" has been split into "Initial index" and "Final index".
      All types of indices ("Initial", "Final", "Contains", and "Any") can now be created independently of each other.
      "Initial" includes "begins with", "greater or equal", "less or equal", and "equality" searches

    • When editing a PSAP address, DirX Directory Manager silently stores an additional string containing host and port;
      The main intent is to simplify shadow administration in NAT environments. For more information, please refer
      to the server documentation

    • DirX Directory Manager always passes the session tracking control "1.3.6.1.4.1.21008.108.63.1", which causes additional
      respective information to be created in the LDAP audit log

    • This release includes the option to install DirX Directory Manager on Windows Vista

    • A new menu item, allowing to control the appearance of tool tips

  • Bug fixes

    •  —

Build 47 compared to build 44

  • Features

    • It is now possible to restrict the circle of people entitled to perform LDAP extended operations:
      Just specify their DNs in the tab "ExtOp Admins" of the ldapConfiguration subentry.
      If no DN is specified, anybody is entitled.
      Note that there is one exception: the extended operation that shows the default values for the LDAP configuration subentry
      is respected for any user no matter what is specified in the ExtOp Admins tab.
      Note that extended operations are typically performed in the monitor view

    • The menu items "Import Schema", "Export Schema", "Compare Schemata", "Open Schema File" support DSML v2, too, now.
      Note that the suffix .xml also expects dsml v2 when importing and creates dsml v2 when exporting.
      For an example of how a dsml v2 import file is supposed to look like, just export a schema into dsml

    • The menu item "Export" supports DSML v2, too, now - by way of creating add requests

  • Bug fixes

    • The appearance period of tool tips has been reduced to the default (4 secs)

    • The preceding plausi checks have been removed, the decision
      whether an access control subentry can be created is entirely left to the server

Build 44 compared to build 43

  • Features

    • It is now possible to modify the DirectoryString syntax from DirectoryString(n) to DirectoryString(m) (m>n).
      Requires DirX Directory build 8.1.98 or better

    • DirX Directory Manager ships now with a monitor.xml containing default settings that comply with DirX Directory 8.0C

    • The tab "General" provides additional settings related to the internet draft "draft-wahl-ldap-session-03".
      Refer to frame "Session tracking": "On" means that stack info will be logged into the audit log (anything exceeding
      the value "Max info length" will be truncated).

  • Bug fixes

    • An error message is now returned, if the keystore is read-only

Build 43 compared to build 42

  • Features

    • "More settings" are remembered from last use

  • Bug fixes

    • Attributes/New Attribute: New default matching rules for syntaxes Country String, Directory String, IA5 String and Printable String: caseIgnoreMatch, caseIgnoreOrderingMatch, caseIgnoreSubstringsMatch

    • Does not read anymore the respective entry beforehand unless schema contains the attribute dxmPassword

    • New license texts

    • JRE 1.5.0_09

Build 38 compared to build 35

  • Features

    • The LDAP tab in the advanced search dialog supports the extensible filter format. This way it is possible to find a user by specifying serial number and issuer of its userCertificate (refer o the server documentation for details.
      Example: "(usercertificate:2.5.13.34:={%20serialNumber%200,%20issuerrdnSequence:%22cn=dirxldapv3,o=my-company%22%20})">(usercertificate:2.5.13.34:={ serialNumber 0, issuerrdnSequence:"cn=dirxldapv3,o=my-company" })

    • Replication

      • Now also supported: Maximum base distance and specification filter

    • Add entry

      • Offers an Entry ACI tab

      • Offers a Subentry ACI tab as soon as "Administrative Role" is assigned a value (use the "Create a new property" button)

    • Ldap configuration

      • DirX Directory Manager obtains the defaults form the server (does not work with server versions older than the one this release of DirX Directory Manager ships with).

      • Creating new subentries now also supporting LDAP suffix/X.500 context prefix "root"

    • Display of icons can be suppressed through right mouse click in member field

    • Administrative points

      • Are created implicitly when assigning an "Administrative Role" (use the "Create a new property" button)

      • Are now marked with a red point in trees and lists

      • When creating a subentry, it is possible to select the administrative point the subentry is to belong to (the administrative point must exist and must have an appropriate administrative role).

    • shows additional status information for current incremental updates (note that server versions older than the one this release of DirX Directory Manager ships with do not expose this additional information)

    • If the schema contains the object class proxyControlSubentry, it is possible to manage proxyControl subentries. Note that DirX Directory Manager itself does not offer requesting access privileges of an identity for which it would be proxying

    • Monitor view
      It is possible to display future extensions provided by the server by placing a file "monitor.xml" below DirX Directory Manager’s "config" folder. Example (for the OIDs please refer to the server documentation):

      <?xml version='1.0'?>
      <monitor>
          <node name="LDAP">
              <node name="test" oid="1.3.12.2.1107.1.3.2.11.999"/>
              <node name="test2" oid="1.3.12.2.1107.1.3.2.11.9999"/>
          </node>
          <node name="DAP">
              <node name="DAP test" description="hello world" oid="1.3.12.2.1107.1.3.2.11.888"/>
              <node name="DAP test2" oid="1.3.12.2.1107.1.3.2.11.8888" autoRefresh="true"/>
          </node>
      </monitor>

      Works with server versions newer than the one this release of DirX Directory Manager ships with (provided they come with additional respective features).

  • Bug fixes

    • There was an issue if a DirX Directory Manager user was forced to change his password due to an administrative reset.

    • Groups could not be assigned

    • Icons were not shown in members field

    • This release comes with an update of the "Netscape Directory SDK for Java" based directory SDK that ships with DirX Directory Manager: The essential change applies to the handling of extensible filters (see also above)

    • If the server option "Follow referrals automatically" is checked, referrals are no longer ignored

Build 35 compared to build 34

  • Features

    • Replication: new flag expressing whether consumer/supplier is DirX Directory or non Dir.X X.500 server (introduced with DirX 7.0B00)

    • LDAP configuration/audit: Support of the LDAP configuration/audit extensions introduced with DirX 7.0B00

    • Script Manager: right mouse button applied to tab in script editor offers "close all" (closes all currently opened scripts). Server defaults are no longer assumed.

    • Tree view: Display of context prefixes: By default, all context prefixes that can be acquired from the server are displayed in the tree view. The display of unwanted context prefixes can be avoided by specifying them in the respective *.server profiles (check the server dialog for their location) like this: <displayoptions hiddenNamingContexts="o=my-company"/> or <displayoptions hiddenNamingContexts="o=my-company;o=your-company"/>. Remember that you can customize DirX Directory Manager installations with pre-defined profiles

  • Bug Fixes

    • Schema

      • When searching for an attribute and clicking tab "Assoc. object classes", an error message popped up

      • Assoc. Object classes: "Attribute is" column was always empty

    • Script Manager: Did cut file names on blank in "Structure" window

    • Subentries: If only subentries are returned, Export failed under certain conditions

    • Configuration view: naming context entry can be modified (so far: modification was only possible in Directory Entries view)

Build 34 compared to build 33

Build 33 compared to build 32

  • Features

    • "Is Present" now also supported for attributes with DN syntax

Build 32 compared to build 30

  • Features

    • Access control subentries are now manageable rather than just readable.

    • Monitoring View

      • New: Audit Info; equivalent to the dirxadm commands "ldap audit -info", "ldap audit -start" and "ldap audit -stop". Note that server versions older than the one this release of DirX Directory Manager ships with may not support this feature.

    • Schema

      • Applying the right mouse button to an attribute shown in a list of attributes of a property pane or dialog allows to view/edit that attribute’s properties.

    • Script Manager

      • DirX Directory Audit Log Options: minor enhancements: csv output (note that server versions older than the one this release of DirX Directory Manager ships with do not support this feature) and options that are transparent to DirX Directory Manager.

    • Subentries

      • Can now be exported and imported (export only available for manually selected subentries, not for containers).

  • Bug Fixes

    • Schema

      • Has now full editing capabilities (as opposed to the still restricted editing capabilities when accessing the server schema)

      • Should work now under any conditions

      • Dialog "Compare Schemata": Exception could occur, if name of server whose schema was stored automatically contained an underline.

    • Scripts

      • (UNIX, when starting DirX Directory Manager through DirXmanager.exe rather than run.sh): Workaround of InstallAnywhere v7 bug that caused an error message when clicking the execute button in DirX Manager’s script manager.

Build 30 compared to build 29

  • New license texts

Build 29 compared to build 28

  • Bug Fixes

    • When running DirX Directory Manager with Java 1.5 on UNIX systems, the labeling of buttons was illegible.

Build 28 compared to build 27

  • Features

    • An advanced button allows expressing almost unlimitedly complex LDAP filters (same as already introduced for Search Tab in build 27 and Export in build 20).

    • If the schema cannot be read from server, an LDIF schema file (schemes/standard.ldif) can make up for the server schema.

  • Bug Fixes

    • replication: a DSA name already specified by the user will no longer be overwritten by DirX Directory Manager’s proposal

Build 27 compared to build 26

  • Features

    • Feature implemented in anticipation of future server support; presumably not available yet with DirX v7.0A10
      A new view ("Monitor") gives read access to the LDAP MIB

    • Password Policy Subentry: DNs can be specified ("Exclusions") that are not to be affected by the Global Password Policy.

    • Database (Schema view)

      • Indices can be managed rather than only be displayed

      • Attribute consistency can be caused to be checked

    • Search Tab: An advanced button allows expressing almost unlimitedly complex LDAP filters (same as already introduced for Export in build 20)

  • Bug Fixes

    • Is offered even if the account appears to be unlocked already. Reason: The server locks the account on respective error only locally w/o chaining it.

    • If server returns "no such object", entry will be removed from display. In addition, an error message will be displayed

Build 26 compared to build 25

  • Bug Fixes

    • Properties Dialog/Pane: Corrupted password after canceled modification
      Double-clicking the attribute "userPassword" and leaving the password modification dialog that is popping up then through the "Cancel" button caused the current password to get corrupted.

Build 25 compared to build 21

  • Features

    • DirX Directory Manager supports a new "view" called "Replication" that allows to manage shadowing and LDIf agreements for DirX v7. It is also supposed to work with future versions of DirX EE.

    • A new plug-in that extends the schema view by displaying what indices the server maintains for what attributes

    • "Number subordinates"
      If the server tells the "number of subordinates" of an entry, that is, if the server has implemented it and if access control is set appropriately for the operational attributes numSubordinates and numAllSubordinates, DirX Directory Manager will

      • dynamically remove resp. add "+" and "-" in the tree view

      • show the number of one-level subordinates as well as the number of all-level subordinates as tooltip in the tree view

    • Tooltips last considerably longer than in older builds

    • Allows to configure the maximum number of characters per line (button "More settings", Tab "General")

    • DirX Directory Manager comes with a new color palette that is based on the settings found in <DirX Directory Manager installation directory>/system/colorsAndFonts.properties. Removing this file would cause DirX Directory Manager come up with default colors, editing it would change the colors used by DirX Directory Manager. Note however that this file will be there again with the vendor settings after re-installation.

  • Bug Fixes

    • Modify Entry: If one or more mandatory attributes are not available (e.g. due to missing access rights), modify can still be tried now.

    • Menu "Schema": Did not appear, if host name contains "_" and a schema is saved automatically for "Compare schemata…" functionality.

Build 21 compared to build 20

  • Features

    • Build 21 ships with JavaHelp v2, so it supports multi-topic printing.

    • Search result lists

      • The user’s settings are remembered regarding what columns are to be sorted in what order

      • Binary attributes can be configured, too (the list displays "Binary (<number of bytes>)")

      • Postal address shows the full value rather than just the first component

    • Server Dialog:

      • "Name" is no longer copied automatically to "Host" and vice versa

    • Properties dialogs/panes referring to LDAP entries:

      • "All Attributes" tab: For attributes with number of values being >1, the number is displayed in the name column: 1. to the right of the attribute name, 2. as tool tip

    • LDAP Audit subentry: default values for "Attribute detail level" have been modified.

    • Installation: Silent installation supported now

  • Bug fixes

    • For filter attributes having DN syntax, the filter type is now restricted to "Equals" and "Not Equals" . If, say, "secretary" has DN syntax and is used as filter attribute, filter types not supported by the LDAP server such as "Begins with" or "Contains" cannot be selected anymore.

    • Property pane: Update problem of cn in property pane when renaming an entry

    • Views bar: Move Up/Move Down threw a null pointer exception under certain conditions

    • Improved performance when modifying attributes with numerous values

    • Configuration View

      • Under certain conditions, default values were written into the database, though the related entry did not have the related attributes

    • The "Netscape Directory SDK for Java" based directory SDK that ships with DirX Directory Manager has been updated to a preliminary edition of Mozilla CVS 4.18 (as of July/2004). Besides, a bug fix was made that prevents the application from going unreactive in case of an out-of-memory exception (instead, the provoking operation will be discarded and an error message pops up).

    • Installation: This release comes with an InstallAnywhere fix ("LaunchAnywhere fails to correctly locate VMs registered on Windows 2000 systems").

      • Tree wasn’t resorted after Refresh or Rename

    • Significant improvements concerning performance and resource consumption when

      • Displaying entries with many children in tree and list views
